My Work on Display at San Diego Comic Con 2016!

So excited! Three of my photos made Yahoo today and will also be on display at the Hasbro Booth at San Diego Comic-Con International, July 21-24. This was part of the #HasbroToyPic event that was mentioned in my previous posts.

So much love to my super loving and creative wife, Eon/A.K.A. The Founder of GloWorm Photography, who did so much work to make the sunset photo of Rey happen. If not for her, that shot and my (*Bill & Ted voice*) most excellent adventure in toy photography would not be possible.

Ok so, I  posted the three shots below as well as a behind the scenes video on how we made Rey eating by the AT-AT foot. Please feel free to leave comments and/or give a follow on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks for viewing!

Dojo additions – New artwork for the Dojo

So it’s been a while since I have updated my Dojo diorama. I always knew this would be an evolving long term project so I recently made some additions to the Dojo. First I added some a 1.5″ black wood frame around the top portion of the two walls. Next, I found some traditional Japanese art, printed it, and mounted it to black mat board. I left a little black edge around each picture to create a framed look on each piece. The one I am most excited about is the Darth Vader vs. Obi Wan scene. That image was created by Arthur Parreira. Please check out and support his Deviant Art account, grimorioilustrado.  I made the artwork non-permanent, so I can switch out the art as I see fit. The whole idea behind this Dojo project is to have a scene that can be reused over and over without looking the same for every shot. Let me know what you think! Feel free to comment below.

A Ronin Meditates

I simply can’t get enough of my Dojo diorama these days. In fact, I am currently installing some new features, which shall be revealed soon. Eventually I’d like to add a third wall and a roof. However, just before I started renovating this dojo, I decided to do another meditation shot. I mean, why wouldn’t Ronin Boba Fett need to meditate before capturing his bounties and vanquishing his enemies, right? Turns out the “Meisho Movie Realization Boba Fett” figure by Bandai, sits in meditation pose perfectly. What do you think?  Feel free to comment!

Ahsoka Tano – Silhouette

Hello again! So this was mainly an exercise about accentuating the female figure within the 6″ Ahso Tano action figure. It took quite a while to settle on the final pose….something that is instantly recognizable as Ahsoka, strong, confident, feminine, yet candid or slightly off guard….. Maybe as though you just caught the perfect glimpse of her as she was walking through the room.  I knew I I needed to keep the curves of her upper and lower torso visible, but the most difficult challenge was making her head, arms, and legs visible and not too stiff.  What do you think? Did I get it?

The first shot is a crop that I really liked.

Another Routine Delivery

I was playing around with my space ship interior diorama again. This time I got to use my NECA Alien Egg pack and my Leela and Nibbler figures. I used a green gel on my flash that was positioned underneath the diorama and a bare flash shooting light from above. The smoke is real too. Hope you like!
